relationships. But about 1 in 5 teens (19%), ages 15-17, say that their friends
are not in healthy relationships - Those without love, trust, mutual respect, and
honesty.
- 40% of teen guys and 48% of teen girls say that trust is the most important factor
in a healthy relationship.
- 10% of teen guys say compatibility is the most important factor in a relationship,
where an only 3% of teen girls agree.
- Less than 3% of teens, both male and female, say that looks or popularity is the
things that matter most in a relationship.
- Surveys have shown that almost 85% of all teens believe that sex should only happen
in a long-term committed relationship. Just because you may think that everyone
is doing it, doesn’t mean that they are. Some really are and some really aren’t,
and then there are those who are lying about the whole situation.
- Teen Relationship Abuse is similar to domestic violence in adults; however, in teen
abuse the partner usually tries to control the situation by manipulation rather
than physical conduct. In the United States, 33% of teens have reported some kind
of abuse and 12% have reported physical abuse.
- In most cases of domestic violence, the woman is usually the victim. This is not
always the case in Teen Relationship Abuse, both teen guys and girls report abuse
equally.
