Why do Teens have Sex?
- LOVE “I’m in Love!” or “I want someone to Love Me!”
- Boys use love to get sex.
- Girls use sex to get love.
- Peer Pressure “I Want to fit in” "My friends are doing it!"
- Under the Influence “I was Drunk or High and I didn’t know what
I was doing”
- Curiosity “I heard it was fun”
- Maturity “It’s Grown Up”
- Having sex doesn’t make you an adult.
- Waiting until marriage shows maturity and self-control.
- Other Reasons It’s natural! I’m curious! I’m angry! I want a baby!
Dating and Relationship Tips
- Stay on the right path by talking to other committed teens or adults
- Find non-physical ways to show your boyfriend/girlfriend that you care
- Avoid parties where drugs and alcohol are present.
- Place yourself in an environment with friends who have your same beliefs and values
- Avoid being alone where no one can help if needed, and also avoid leaving parties
with someone you don’t know very well
How to Say NO!
- Be firm in your decision, don’t use terms such as “maybe” or “later” stand your
ground and say what you mean and mean what you say.
- State that sex is not part of your game plan right now and that you are going to
wait until marriage.
- There is always a way to change the topic. If something comes up and you are uncomfortable
talking about it, find a way to change the topic. Begin to talk about the movie
you saw last night or something about the weather, etc.
- Last but not least if you can’t seem to convince the opposing person that now is
not the right time always use an exit plan. In other words, get up and get away
immediately to keep yourself out of trouble and healthy.
- Remember you have the RIGHT TO SAY NO. IT'S YOUR DECISION!
